Awning Canopies

Taking care of awning canopies is a process that is not entirely difficult, but it is important to be diligent in what you do. In order to care for awning canopies, you should:
• Ditch the dirt – If you allow dirt to build up on awning canopies, it can not only make the canopies look bad, but also decrease their functionality.
• Sweep it up – It is important to sweep the awning off with a broom and then rinse it off with water. A push broom might be more effective than a normal broom.
• Keep it mild – When washing the awning canopies, it is best if you use a mild soap. If you choose to use soap with harsh detergents, there is a good chance that it could damage the fabric.
• Don’t let the soap dry – You should not leave the soap on the awning canopies long enough to dry. Doing this could make the canopy flaky or crusty. Make sure to wash off all the residue from the soap as well.
• Stay out of the heat – You should not attempt to wash the awning canopies on very hot days (above 100 degrees). When a hot awning canopy is contacted with cold water, there is a chance the canopy could crack.
• Rinse and repeat – Reapply a water repellent substance annually to the awning. Doing this will help ensure that the awning is protected from the elements of the sun and rain. If the awning is not protected in the proper manner, the fabric can crack or shrink.
By remembering these guidelines, you should be able to preserve your awning canopies.
