RV Awnings

Following these tips can help make sure that your RV awnings stay in good shape for the time that you own them.
• Practice rolling the RV awnings up – It is best to try to practice rolling up the awnings on a calm day. This will help you be able to have the process memorized for when you need to do it quickly on a day when there is a lot of wind or bad weather that might come without much warning. You might even want to practice this while somebody is spraying a hose in your face in order to get a more realistic feel. Practicing this way can help you to know what to do in order to avoid damaging your RV awnings.
• If your awning has been rolled up and unused for a number of months, it will definitely be a good idea to air it out for a while. When doing this, it is also a good idea to clean it with some warm water and a mild detergent. It might be best to use a brush that you might use to wash a car to scrub both the top as well as the underside of the awning. After you have completed this, spraying a little WD-40 on the moving parts can help make sure that things work well. Before the RV awnings are re-rolled, it is best to dry it thoroughly.
• Lastly, it is a good idea to lower one end of the open awning in order to allow rainwater to drain off. Also, it is good to keep this strapped down. Doing so will make sure that it does not inadvertently blow away or blow out when you are least expecting it.
By caring for your RV awnings and preparing for the different situations that might be thrown at you, you will be able to keep the awnings in good operational condition.
